Hey my fellow readers, I am back from a learning journey, where I completed an intense course in ‘Leading through Creativity’ and it got me thinking about how important and generally misunderstood is the word creativity, especially in a business setting.
We hear creativity and we immediately think, artists, dancers and the like, but did you know that you can also be a creative problem solver?
When you look at you daily tasks, your job, your life, are you creative? Do you see an opportunity to do things differently? What mechanisms do you use to spur your creativity or is your creative button always lit up on green?
Let me test your creative thinking with a little test. What word closely relates to these following three words? Water, Soda, Pen
What about your organization? Does it promote creativity? Do you know how to spot a creative organization? Do you know how to lead a creative organization?
Karl Albrecht in his book ‘The Creative Corporation’ encourages leaders to encourage thinking. He writes that with respect to employees, promote, encourage, and implement the rule “You are authorized to think”.
Creative thinking opens minds to new ideas and new solutions to everyday problems in the workplace.
We should all strive to become Creative Leaders!
